Chapter 4: Before the Storm

Chapter 4: Before the Storm

Bzzt…Bzzt…

Gocchin bolted awake. “I’m up! I’m up!” she yelled.

Nobody answered. She looked around the room in a daze. The doorbell rang again, this time with more force.

Slipping on a pair of pants and a loose, unbuttoned shirt over her underwear, she shuffled out of the bedroom and to the door. She swung open the door, and in, bounced Yossie.

“Yossie?” Maki called, her eyes following the girl dancing her way to the kitchen.

“Gottsan!!” the Momusu leader skipped over and lifted her best friend up in the air. They spun around for quite some time, with Goto swearing as her head grazed the ceiling.

“Let me down!” she shouted, shielding herself from the ceiling overhead.

“If you had anything to do with what happened last night, I love you!” Yossie cried, dropping the girl to the floor.

“And what are you doing at Rika’s place, hm…?” she smirked, temporary mischief replacing the joy.

‘Shit…’

“Have a little party of your own, last night?”

Yoshizawa had been facing the brunt of Maki’s jokes ever since she told her best friend about her crush. ‘Payback time!’ Yossie thought, evilly.

“Sleep in late last night?” she pressed on, making Goto turn redder and redder.

“Look, why are you here?”

“I need some help. With some after-work stuff.” Hitomi peered over the soloist’s shoulder.

Gottsan’s raised an eyebrow. “Mikitty?”

“Ok, since when did my personal life get posted on a giant billboard for everyone to see?”

Her best friend replied with shrug.

Huffing, she walked past Maki and pushed open the bedroom door.

Rika-chan…?” Yossie called in a quiet, singsong voice. She slipped into the room, carefully avoiding the mess of clothes sprawled over the floor.

‘No one has to guess what happened here, last night…’ she thought, taking in the pink room’s condition. The usual neat and clean room of Hello Projects’ known cutey had been savagely turned into a monkey’s playground. The floor was littered with objects that more then likely, fell or were knocked off shelves and tables. Rika’s stuffed toys, which usually sat on her inflatable comfy chair, were thrown, mercilessly, around the room. Yossie even saw one of her old birthday presents flattened by a black leather outfit. Bending over to rescue her bunny plushie, she gave a small glance at the black piece of clothing, before realizing, fully, what it was.

‘Oh my god…Maki, you lucky, lucky fiend…’ she screamed in her head, while picking up the leather material.

At that moment, Gocchin entered the room about to drag the intruder outside, until she saw what her best friend was holding.

“Oh, shit…” Goto blurted out loud. Yossie’s pale face turned to the doorway, her eyes still fixated on the thing she was gripping.

“So…” Yossie snorted, “Should I be expecting a giant pink yo-yo, or something?”

Within seconds, she was knocked off her feet, landing softly on the bed. It groaned as another person leapt on, and before the Morning Musume leader could react, barrages of stuffed toys were attacking her face. She couldn’t defend herself against the relentless wave of bunnies and teddy bears.

“Gocchin?”

A sleepy voice silenced their rough-hosing and the lump beside Yossie stirred. Raising herself from the covers, Ishikawa rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Maki immediately crawled beside her girlfriend, kissing her forehead.

“Good morning…”

Hitomi patted Rika’s head, greeting her with a ‘good morning’. If she had landed any closer to the sleeping lump, she would’ve squashed her flat.

“Hm…? Yossie? What are you doing here…?”

“Ah…” A tint of red flashed on Yoshizawa’s cheeks. “I’m taking Miki out for coffee later, and I sorta need your help…”

It took Rika a few seconds to remember what had happened the night before and then she nodded. “Let me take a shower and get dressed first. Then, we’ll talk.”

Yossie checked her watch. “It’s 11:30. I have rehearsals with Momusu in 3 hours, and then I’m taking her out.”

“You would think we’d get a break after a party, but noooo…” Gocchin rested her head on Rika’s lap, yawning widely. “I have dance the whole day…” she groaned, not particularly thrilled about grueling hours of dancing practive.”

“Uhm… Lucky you.” Rika said soothingly, petting the top of her girlfriend’s hair. She then returned attention to Yossie. “We have plenty of time. You get ready, and meet me at the front of the Up!Front building in about an hour.”

She mouthed a ‘thanks’ and left, closing the apartment door with a soft click. Rika peeked at a nearby clock.

11:32…

She started to get up, gently lifting Gottsan’s brunette hair. The younger girl whined and clung tighter to her lap, reluctant to leave her comfortable cushion.

“Maki, let go.”

“Mmmn…”

“Can we do this later? I have to get ready?” Rika felt around the floor with her foot, looking for her slippers. Recognizing the soft cotton, she slipped them on.

When Goto still refused to move, she bent her head lower and lower until she was level with the girl’s closed eyes.

*Chuu

Gocchin opened her eyes, once she felt a peck on her nose. Rika’s warm gaze locked with hers as the she sat up.

Without thinking, Maki lunged forward, lips meeting in a furious exchange.

Rika broke away, panting heavily. “Yossie…have to…get ready…”

“Later…” Gottsan muttered as she ripped off the girl’s pajamas.

While they were busy, a cell phone vibrated in the background, going unnoticed by the couple.

A lonely figure stood outside a door, holding her cellphone to her ear. She rang the doorbell several times, each time with no response. Hanging up, she called another number and as she listened to the ring tone, a telephone rang from within the apartment. Just as she was about to end the call, the answering machine picked up.

“Hi! You have reached Gocchin’s machine! Sorry, I’m not available at the moment, but if you leave a message, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!”

*beep

“Hi, Gocchin? It’s Ayaya… Listen, I need to talk to you. Call me back, ok?”

Ah...what does Ayaya want? Btw, the thing that Yossie was holding was Rika's sexy Sukeban Deka outfit.

Personal note: ugh... lately i havent been sleeping too well...i would sleep while working on my homework then i would nap for 5 hours with the lights on, so my eyes been sore. o well

Chapter 3: Dancing with My Prince

Stupid chapter title, I know…but my mind has been sucked up for now. Sorry for the HUGE delay. Homework, school = argh... i would've posted it earlier, but i spent (i think) 20 minutes getting over GAM's new PV pics when i only muttered incoherant things. Nyways..
It’s pretty long (it’s about 2x the original length)
Next chapter’s bubbling in my head and still in production. So, enjoy!

Waving good-bye to her best friend, Miki returned to her lonely moody self. With Ayaya gone, Mikitty felt uncomfortable, sitting down with some H!P members she rarely talks to, and Yossie…

Miki’s face fell. The party was about to end and she had not been asked to dance yet. ‘Maybe I should just leave…’ she thought depressively. Getting up, she put on her jacket and started towards the exit.

“Mikitty!”

Turning around, she saw Rika hurrying towards her, followed closely by Yossie. “Rika! Happy birthday again! I got some GAM thing tomorrow morning so I’m going to take off. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Fujimoto smiled, not even giving the slightest glance at Hitomi, before continuing on her way.

“Wait!” A hand grabbed her arm, pulling her back. Yoshizawa was tugging on her arm, her eyes full of sincerity. “Wait.” The girl repeated, more softly.

Mikitty’s face reddened, hiding the contained joy she felt. The birthday girl smirked. ‘This is going well…’ She placed her hands on each of the girl’s shoulders. “I’ll leave you two alone now.” And she disappeared.

An awkward silence drifted between the two, both too scared to say anything. Miki was the first to break the tension.

Easing Yossie’s hand off her jacket, she muttered, “Um… I’m gonna go…I have a… uh… GAM rehearsal tomorrow… so…”

“Dance with me?” Yossie blurted out.

“What?” Miki froze. ‘You must be joking…’

Breathing in, she said, “There’s a slow song next, so you wanna dance? It’s the last song for the night.” She extended her hand.

In the background, couples started walking to the dance floor and Sakuragumi’s ‘Hare Ame Nochi Suki’ began to play. Miki had no choice. She couldn’t last very long with Yossie pouting in front of her face.

‘Are you sure about this?’ Miki’s conscious asked. She mentally shook her head.

mado ni utsuru watashi sugoku kawaikunai wa
(The reflection of me in the window isn't that cute)

‘Forget it!’
another voice entered her mind. ‘You go have a good time!’ The devil side cackled, crushing every doubt and worry in her head. Taking Yossie’s hand, she was led to the crowd and proceeded to wrap her arms around the younger girl’s neck, while Hitomi grasped her waist.

Waza to uso tsuitari shita kara…
(Because I told a lie on purpose…)

“You know how to dance, right?” she asked, feeling stupid at the same time. What kind of person asks an idol how to dance?

Miki nodded. The song didn’t make them any less tense. Just as they began to sway against the music, Yossie stepped on her partner’s foot. “Ah! Sorry!”

Miki’s face flinched, her foot throbbing a little. “It’s ok…Don’t worry about it.”

A few seconds later, Yossie was stepped on as well. “Yo-chan! Is your foot ok?”

KISS wo shita sono yoru shiranai onna no ko to ka to
(The night we kissed, you played around with some other girl)

“Yeah. I’m fine. I guess we both suck at dancing.” Hitomi chuckled, scratching the back of her head.

JERASHII
(Jealousy)

They once again fell into an uncomfortable silence. Neither wanted to look at each other. The fact that they were in the middle of a sea of dancing couples and the only ones keeping at an arm’s distance from each other made the moment ever so enjoyable.

“aitakunai!” nante wow yeah, naze icchatta no ka na
(Why did I say “I don’t want to see you anymore!”

Surveying the dance floor, Miki recognized many faces. Shibata and Masae were dancing close-by, Shiba-chan winking at her as she realized the younger girl spotted her. Miki gave an uneasy smile, and returned to looking around her. Several feet away, Rika was with her dance partner. No longer hyperactive and “Charmy”, the girl was sucked into her own world, eyes closed and breathing slowly.

Daisuki sugite kuyashi, nee nee nee
(I love you so much that it hurts. Hey, hey, hey…)

‘Jealousy…is that how I feel? When I see you so happy, I wish I felt the same. When I see you two together, I wish I had that closeness…’

Without realizing it, she leaned her head into Yossie’s shoulder, breathing into her sweater. Her comfort heightened as arms hugged her closer. Mikitty’s eyes fluttered to a close and she felt like time had stopped, and all she heard was the music booming throughout their dance.

‘Dear god…this must be a dream…’ she thought lazily.

Kyou no namida wa shoppa sugiru wa… miraretakunai wa kono namida
Nee hare dooriame nochi SUKI
Oh yes!
I love you for what you are
SUKI, SUKI, SUKI

(Today’s tears sting too much. I don’t want to see these tears.
Hey, I love you after the shower on a clear day.
Oh yes!
I love you for what you are
I love you, I love you, I love you…)

Ashita wa nakanai mou nakanai
Saigo ni suru no yo kono namida
Nee hare dooriame nochi SUKI…

(I don’t cry tomorrow, won’t cry anymore
These tears are for the last time
Hey, I love you after the shower on a clear day…)

--------------------------

“Mikitty?”

Fujimoto’s eyes snapped open. The people that had originally been dancing were walking back to their tables. Beside the DJ, Rika was holding a mic in her hand, voice booming, “Thank you everyone for coming! Have a good night!” She handed the microphone back to the DJ, and gave her undivided attention to the only people still standing on the dance floor.

They instantly separated, blushing. “Uh…well, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow…?” Yossie mumbled, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.

“Bye…” The elder replied, eyes stuck to the ground.

They both stayed, rooted to the spot. Rika rolled her eyes, and left to help clean up the aftermath of the party. Alone, the two slowly strolled to their belongings.

“Hey, if you’re not busy…maybe we could go out for a cup of coffee or something?” Miki asked nervously, looking at Yossie’s stunned face.

‘Oh god…should I have even asked…?’

To her surprise, a bright smile spread on the girl’s face. “I’d love to. How about tomorrow after rehearsals? Oh, wait… You have that GAM thing…”

Miki laughed. “That was just something I made up, cause I was really bored and needed an excuse to tell Rika.”

Yoshizawa chuckled, “Maybe I should’ve asked you to dance earlier. You would’ve had more fun, rather then sitting around.”

Waving good-bye, she left. Miki stared at the space where her fellow MM member was just seconds ago.

“Maybe…”

-------------------------------

Gocchin carried the plates of half-eaten desserts to the back room. Handing over the dishes to the waiters/tresses, she bowed a thank you and returned to the party area. She checked the room, and seeing it was all tidied up, put on her jacket and scarf and exited.

No sooner did she leave, someone attacked her from behind, knocking her to the ground. “What the hell…?” Goto swore, rubbing her head. Rika was on top of her, grinning broadly. “How was the party?” she asked, cheerfully.

“Good, considering I PAYED for EVERYTHING.” Maki answered grumpily.

Rika winked. “That’s nice. Someone had to.”

Instead of getting to her feet, she nestled in the space between Gocchin’s neck and shoulder. “I’m tired…” she yawned.

“Then get off.”

“But, I want to sleep now…” Ishikawa whined, keeping her eyes shut.

“I need to sleep too, so get off.” Maki snapped, trying to lift the weight that was flattening her.

She pouted. “As the birthday girl, I order you to lay there and be my human pillow.”

“It was 12 o’clock a half hour ago, so it doesn’t count.” Maki slipped away from the girl and stood up. “Look, I’m going to leave you there if you don’t get up.”

Rika let loose a low grumble, voicing her fatigue and slowly rose. “You’re sleeping over, right…?” she asked, sleepily.

Maki nodded, taking off her scarf and wrapping it around the girl’s neck. “You’re gonna catch a cold…I told you wearing just a dress wouldn’t be such good idea…”

The pair exited the building, Rika clinging closely to Gocchin. After crossing a street, Gottsan turned around. “By the way, Rika?”

“Happy birthday, oba-san.” (means old lady/etc.)

She received a punch to the arm as thanks.

“You’re gonna get it tonight…”

“I know I am,” Maki smirked, giving her a small kiss. “I know I am…”

This turned out to be entirely different from what I wrote down. Not only did I increase it by 80%, I decided to lengthen the dance scene by…a lot. The song I picked for the dance sequence (credits go to Mink from projecthello for his/hers lyrics) was changed many times, thus ending up being Sakuragumi’s first single, which is an absolutely beautiful song. For the full lyrics, go to projecthello.com. Rika’s lovely gf turned out to be, none other then, Gocchin! Yay! I was kind of surprised when people were wondering who the mystery person was.

On a final note: I hope this chapter wasn’t disappointing. If it was different from what you expected it to be, be warned of the various up-comings I will randomly slide in whenever I have an idea. Muahahhaha

More Than Friends, Less than Love / Ch. 2: A Talk between Friends

Chapter 2: Talk between Friends

“Mikitty?” Yossie called, sticking her head in the bathroom. It was empty, answering her question, and she moved away from the door. Slipping back into the party room, she was about to look for Gocchin when someone collided into her bank.

“Ah! Sorry, Yoshizawa-san!” Ai-chan rubbed the bump on her head and bowed apologetically to her senior. “I was just heading to the bathroom.” She said.

“It’s all right.” Yossie waved off the apology. “Listen, have you seen Fujimoto anywhere?”

The younger girl thought for a minute before turning around and pointing towards the dance floor. Following Ai-chan’s finger, Hitomi’s gaze fixed on the small crowd of dancing girls. Spotting Miki, she took a step forward, leaving Takahashi to continue her trip to the washroom.

“Miki-“ She froze. Another person had entered her line of vision. They were both laughing, holding each other’s hands and enjoying themselves.

Hands clenched, Yossie excused herself and walked out to the hallway.

‘Had I been too late?’

The breeze gently blew at her short hair. Neon lights shone from below and the sound of cars rumbled.

‘No.’ Hands gripped the railing. ‘No… they’re just friends. Best friends. Of course they would be having a lot of fun.’

‘That’s what you said about Rika…And it caused you so much misery…’ A nasty voice in her head reminded. ‘They’re all friends, but you never know if there’s something more.’

Yossie took another draw from her can of coke. “Where’s Maki when you need her…I need her stupid ‘know-it-all’ opinion…”

Back in the day, Maki and Yossie were inseparable. Both players in their own right and very attractive to both sexes. While Yossie had continued her streak of one-night stands, Gottsan settled down with a friend and started dating. At first, it was a battle of wits and getting Gocchin to break down her cold barrier, but eventually, with Yoshizawa’s help, their relationship had lasted for a year and it was still going strong.

“Yossie!”

A voice called out behind her. The birthday girl stood in her pink outfit, her face full of surprise.

“Did not expect you to be here. Why aren’t you inside?”

Hitomi’s eyes lowered to the ground. “”Just wanted some fresh air.” She answered, twirling the can in her hand.

Frowning, Rika put a hand on Yossie’s arm. “Is there something wrong?”

She couldn’t lie to her. They had been close friends ever since entering Morning Musume and each had developed a sixth sense for each other.

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but lately…”

“About you and Mikitty?” Rika spoke up. Yossie raised her eyebrow. “Gocchin told me.” She said, answering the younger girl’s confusion.

“Well, we’ve been hanging out a lot and I’ve been thinking of asking her out, but…”

“Ayaya.” the older girl finished the sentence with a sigh, “and now you have no idea whether she has a thing with Fujimoto.”

Nod.

“And it’s really hard because they’re best friends and always do things that make it really difficult to tell whether or not they are in a relationship.”

Another nod.

Rika leaned on the balcony railing, thinking hard about what she should say next. As she was blankly staring at the night sky, Yossie changed her gaze towards her best friend. She had just turned 22 and had still managed to stay the same way she was back in 2000. She remembered how hard it was to give up on a beautiful girl like Rika when she got together with someone else. It was the first time she had been dumped and felt it sting whenever the memories of the rejection rang through her head.

“Yo-chan?”

‘Didn’t you used to call me Hitomi-chan?’

“Yossie..?”

‘Nobody’s called me that in years…’

“Yossie!”

The futsul captain snapped out of her daze. “Huh?”

“I said that I don’t have much advice about this sort of stuff, but I guess, for the moment, ignore all that ‘more than friends’ Ayaya stuff and concentrate on just being with her…”

Silence fell between the two.

“Shut up. I’m not as good at this as Maki is…but right now…I will give you an opportunity.”

“What?” the younger girl narrowed her eyes.

“I will ask the DJ to play a slow song. And you will ask her to dance!” Rika grinned and strolled off to the party.

“Wait, no!” Yossie clutched her hair, moaning in frustration. “Definitely should’ve talked to Maki…” she muttered, reluctantly trailing after Ishikawa.

Dum Dum Dum…what will happen next?

More then Friends, Less then Love/ Chapter 1: Doubt

January 19th.

It was almost past 10 when the H!P kids left the party and now only the elder members were remaining. The alcohol had been brought out and more exotic music was being played by the DJ.

Yossie sat in her seat, sipping a martini. She watched her two best friends dancing together slowly on the floor. Feeling a little lonely, she looked around for Miki. “I’ll ask her for a dance…” Yossie thought, her eyes searching the tables. With no result, she walked over to Hello! Project’s oldest member.

“Nakazawa-san?” she lightly shook the half-conscious figure sprawled on three chairs and brushed away a few beer bottles that surrounded her sempai.

“Nakazawa-san!”

A hand shot up and grabbed Yossie by the collar.

“What?” Yuko snarled, bringing the terrifying girl up to her face.

“N-N-Nothing…it’s just…have you seen..-”

A horrible stench of alcohol drifted into Yoshizawa’s sense of smell, halting her question immediately.

“You know what? Never mind. I’ll ask someone else.” She said, yanking her collar from Nakazawa’s tight grip.

“Idiot.” Hello! Project’s big sister muttered and slumped back down to doze off.

Miki was getting frustrated. She had been hoping Yossie would ask her to dance and after 4 hours of waiting and reluctantly getting up to dance with other people, her irritation level was about to explode. Most of the members of the party were either drunk, dancing, unconscious or had left. It was quite amusing to see Koharu and Sayu compete in a drunken arm wrestling battle, which resulted in the two getting knocked out.

As for the birthday girl, Miki had barely seen her, only during Trance Charmy’s performance and also during some of the dances throughout the night. Miki’s jealousy sparked as she remembered Rika having a dance with Yossie, but kept it low-key. It was Rika’s birthday and besides, she knew Rika was already with someone else.

‘Yossie isn’t.’ she reminded herself.

“Miki-tan?” Ayaya tapped her shoulder from behind. Spinning around, she saw her best friend wearing a small blue jacket. “I have to leave soon…will you be my last dance?” Ayaya pleaded, offering her hand.

Miki hesitated, giving an uneasy glance towards the tables, but finally took her hand. Aya pulled her to the floor, the two swaying to the song’s rhythm. As the music quicken, Miki’s nervousness melted away as she began to enjoy the moment, laughing along with her best friend as they danced together along with the other members on the floor.

They were having so much fun that one of them didn't notice a particular girl walk silently out of the room.

How was it? It's my first time making a fic for something other then anime. I haven't done one in a while, so sorry if it really sucks. Please comment. Thanks!
